HYDRA automatic irrigation kit: how to install it step by step

Cannabis irrigation system installation

At Netadrip, we designed the HYDRA automatic irrigation kit with cannabis growers in mind who seek maximum irrigation precision and compatibility with mineral fertilizers. This irrigation system allows you to automate the entire process with control from your mobile device and ensures uniform watering across all drippers , without channeling or over-saturating the substrate.

Below, we explain step by step how to assemble the complete system, from the irrigation circuit to the start-up. You don't need any prior experience: just follow the guide and you'll have your growing space ready.

HYDRA system installation

Step 1: Prepare the irrigation circuit

1.1 Measure and cut the tube

Measure the area of your grow and cut the 16mm white tube to the required length, adding some margin for connections and adjustments.

☝️ Tip: To avoid bends that affect water distribution, you can use a heat gun to straighten the pipe.

Join the sections with Netadrip fittings (elbows, tees, straight joints) according to the design of your space.

1.2 Install the air purge valve

Install this air vent valve at the point furthest from the water inlet to remove trapped air. In large systems with multiple sub-circuits, place one valve on each branch.

If you're using an in-line setup, place it at the very end.

1.3 Assemble the filter

Connect the irrigation filter to the water inlet, respecting the flow direction to avoid damage and blockages.

Step 2: Installing drippers for precise irrigation

2.1 Drill the tube

Using the awl, make precise perforations to place the drippers, taking care that the holes are not too large to ensure a good seal.

2.2 Place the drippers

Insert the droppers with pressure until you feel resistance, ensuring a tight seal and preventing leaks.

Step 3: Pumping circuit assembly

3.1 Locate and connect the pump

Place the irrigation pump in a stable location near the tank. Connect the pump's pre-filter to the tank side to protect the system from solids.

3.2 Install the hoses

Cut and connect the hoses from the tank to the pump (suction) and from the pump to the filter (discharge). Use metal clamps to secure the connections and prevent leaks.

Step 4: Start-up and configuration of the automatic irrigation system

  • Connect the Netadrip Smartplug and configure the system from your smartphone.
  • Turn on the pump and wait for the circuit to fill and purge the air.
  • Check that all the drippers distribute the water evenly.

Everything is ready for precise and professional-level watering! 👏

Before assembling your circuit, it's important to decide: in-line assembly or loop assembly?

This will depend on the size and design of your crop.

Online assembly

  • Perfect for small spaces or cannabis grow tents.
  • Easier to install, with a single entrance and a straight path.
  • Lower cost and quick assembly.

Closed-loop assembly

  • Recommended for large rooms or installations with multiple branches.
  • It ensures uniform pressure and flow rate in all drippers, even the furthest ones.
  • It requires more connections, but improves irrigation efficiency.

☝️ Tip: If you are going to use separate trays (for example, three grow tables), consider a loop for each one with its own purge valve.

Maintenance and recommendations

Proper maintenance of your HYDRA kit ensures long-lasting, trouble-free operation. Here are some essential tips:

  • Use only mineral fertilizers: avoid organic or biomineral fertilizers that can clog the drippers.
  • Clean the filter every week: especially if the water in your area has many particles or is hard.
  • Check the purge valves: make sure there is no air trapped in the circuit.
  • Do a visual inspection: check that the drippers are watering evenly and without leaks.

Installing the HYDRA system is easier than it seems. Once set up, you'll have automatic, precise irrigation controlled from your mobile phone.
